Our story of Verneda
In 1631 the French mathematician Pierre Vernier described a small second scale that slides along a main one, so that where the marks line up a reader can see a fraction of the smallest division; every engineer's caliper still carries one, and it still bears his name. Verneda was not made from it. It was made from the Verns of its own day — Verna, Vernon, Laverne — with a soft -eda at the end. But it shares the sound of a small invention that lets people measure what they could not see before.

Fashion outlook
Verneda sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.
