The story of Tiphanie
In France the Epiphany, on the sixth of January, is celebrated with a galette des rois, a flat almond cake with a small charm, the fève, baked inside; whoever finds it becomes king or queen for the day and wears a paper crown. Medieval France named girls born at the feast Tiphaine, and English made the name Tiffany. In 1958 Truman Capote called his novella Breakfast at Tiffany's after the New York jeweler, where Holly Golightly finds comfort by looking in the windows — there was no café in the store until 2017. Tiphanie is one of the spellings American families have used for it.
