Teaira
Feminine
A diadem was a band of cloth before it was a crown. The Greek word means something tied around, and the object it named was a strip of white ribbon knotted at the back of the head; the metalwork came later, and the jewelled thing that the word now suggests would not have been recognized by anybody who first used it.

Our story of Teaira
The band of cloth mattered because of what it signified. Persian kings wore one, Alexander adopted it after conquering them, and his successors kept it as the mark of a monarch, so that a strip of fabric became the visible difference between a king and a general. Roman emperors avoided it for centuries precisely because of that association, preferring a wreath, and when they finally put one on it was understood as a statement. The jewelled version is a late development and the modern sense, a decorative headpiece for a formal occasion, is nineteenth century. A word that once meant the difference between a ruler and everybody else now means something worn to a wedding.
Meaningnot established
Not established
No source and no meaning. The name resembles the English word for a jewelled headband and cannot be shown to come from it; the vowels were chosen for the look, and this is one of a set of American names built around an open, vowel-heavy shape in the second half of the twentieth century.
Pronouncing Teaira
tee-AIR-uh
Three syllables with the stress in the middle. The vowel letters can be grouped more than one way and some families say TEE-uh-ruh with the weight at the front; the spelling settles neither.

Fashion outlook
Teaira sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.

The trade-off
- Every sound is ordinary English and the name is never mispronounced twice.
- Tea and Ira are two short forms that stand alone as names elsewhere.
- The rhythm is soft and open and goes with almost any surname.
- Two live stress patterns and the spelling chooses neither.
- It will be written Tiara, which is a word with a strong image attached.
- There is no meaning to give a child who asks.
Nobody names a baby alone.
