Our story of Sharayah
In the Book of Jeremiah, the prophet gives a scroll of prophecies against Babylon to Seraiah, who is traveling there with the king, and tells him to read it aloud, then tie a stone to it and throw it into the Euphrates, saying that Babylon too will sink and not rise. Sharayah echoes that name, though its likely root is the gentler Sarah, 'princess', with a flowing ending. It is a name with a long, lyrical sound.
