The story of Serafin
Isaiah's vision in the temple gives the seraphim their only substantial appearance: six wings each, two covering the face, two the feet, two for flying, and one touches a coal to the prophet's lips. Later Christian angelology ranked them highest of the nine orders. Spanish and Polish took Serafín and Serafin as personal names, and it reaches American records with families from both.
Meaning
burning ones
From Hebrew seraph, to burn, plural seraphim; the same word names a fiery serpent elsewhere in the Hebrew Bible, and the connection between the two senses is debated. Isaiah's seraphim have six wings and cry holy, holy, holy.

About 1 boy in 56,936 born in 2025 was given one of these spellings — against 1 in 68,323 for Serafin itself.
Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. It errs towards splitting: a family here is never larger than the truth. SSA national data, 2025. Method
