The story of Sedonia
Sidon was one of the great Phoenician cities, and a woman from there was a Sidonia; the name passed into Christian use through a saint and into German and Polish aristocratic families. In Arizona, the town of Sedona took its name from Sedona Schnebly, the wife of the settler who opened its first post office, when her husband's other suggestions were rejected as too long for a postmark. Sedonia carries both echoes.

a woman of Sidon, through Sidonia
Sidonia is Latin for a woman from Sidon, the Phoenician port in what is now Lebanon, and it was the name of an early saint. Sedonia may be a spelling of it, or may be linked to Sedona; the record does not say which.
