The story of Said
Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas commanded the army that defeated the Sassanid Persians at Qadisiyyah in 636, one of the decisive battles of the seventh century, and the Sa'd and Sa'id family of names has been in continuous use since. Port Said in Egypt is named for a nineteenth-century khedive. It appears in American records and is in current use.
