The story of Rigo
Roderic was the last Visigothic king of Spain, defeated in 711, and the name stayed in Spanish naming afterwards; Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, El Cid, is the other great bearer. Mexican Spanish clips it to Rigo, taking the back of the name — the same move that gives Nacho from Ignacio. It appears in American records with Mexican families through the twentieth century.
