Where it comes from

Our story of Obert

In 1839 a young, almost unknown composer from a village near Busseto saw his first opera staged at La Scala in Milan: Oberto, Count of San Bonifacio. It did well enough that La Scala commissioned more, and Giuseppe Verdi went on to write Rigoletto, La traviata and Aida. Obert shares its sound with that beginning. It is a short, sturdy name with the ring of the old Germanic -bert names in it.
