Our story of Nakiah
Naqia, whose name is Aramaic for 'pure', was a wife of the Assyrian king Sennacherib and the mother of Esarhaddon; she helped secure his throne and later the succession of her grandson Ashurbanipal, and her power in the palace is recorded in the royal inscriptions. The American Nakiah shares her sound but not a documented descent, and it was already in use when the 2018 film Black Panther gave the name Nakia to a spy of Wakanda. It is a name with a quiet authority in its sound.
