The story of Mercades
In medieval Barcelona, the Order of Our Lady of Mercy was founded to buy back Christians held captive across the Mediterranean, and its members took a fourth vow to hand themselves over in a captive's place if the money ran short. Centuries later Emil Jellinek, a wealthy racer and dealer, entered Daimler cars under the name of his daughter, Mercedes, and ordered a whole fleet on condition that they carry it; the name became the brand.

Mercades sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.
