The story of Margart
Margaret Knight designed a machine that folded and glued flat-bottomed paper bags; when a man named Charles Annan copied it and filed for a patent, arguing that a woman could not have invented it, she sued, produced her drawings, and in 1871 won the patent. In April 1912 Margaret Brown of Denver helped row a Titanic lifeboat, urged the crew to go back for survivors, and later raised money for the destitute; Broadway made her 'the Unsinkable Molly Brown', a name she never used. Margart was a spelling of Margaret in the old record.
