Laticia
Feminine · “joy”
Laticia is Letitia written so that it begins with La-. The change is one letter, and it moves the name off the Latin shelf and onto the American one, alongside the whole family of La- coinages. Both readings stay available at once, and which one a reader reaches for depends entirely on what they already know.

The story of Laticia
The Latin underneath has an older sense almost nobody carries forward. Laetus, the adjective laetitia is built on, began as a farming word: it described soil that was rich and land in good heart, and Roman agricultural writers use it that way constantly. Laetamen, from the same root, is simply the Latin for manure, and laetare meant to spread it on a field. Gladness came later, by the ordinary route of a word for a thriving field being turned on a thriving person. So the name means joy, and directly underneath the joy is a well-fed field. Nothing about the American spelling disturbs any of that; it only hides it, because a name that opens with La- is read as a modern build rather than an inheritance.
Meaning
joy, gladness
Letitia is the Latin laetitia, an abstract noun meaning joy or gladness, in use as a name from the Roman period onward. Laticia is that name respelled, and the sense travels with it unchanged.

Fashion outlook
Laticia sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.

The trade-off
- The meaning is unusually pleasant and genuinely inherited rather than assigned after the fact.
- It has two quite different short forms, one soft and one blunt.
- The stress in the middle gives it a lift most names of its length do not have.
- Letitia and Leticia are both standard, so the spelling is always in question.
- The La- opening reads as an American coinage and hides the Latin entirely.
- The ending can be heard two ways, and strangers meeting it in writing will guess.
