Ladawn
Feminine · “daybreak”
Ladawn attaches an American prefix to an ordinary English word rather than to a name, which is the less common of the two operations. And the word itself has an odd history: dawn as a noun is younger than dawning, and English produced it by cutting the ending off the longer word on the assumption that a shorter one must have existed first.

The story of Ladawn
The verb came first. To dawn is old in English; the noun dawning is built from it in the ordinary way; and the short noun dawn is a late arrival, produced by speakers who assumed that dawning must be built on a shorter word and supplied one. That process has a name in linguistics and it has produced a surprising number of ordinary English words: burgle from burglar, edit from editor, pea from a word that was already singular and merely sounded plural. Dawn as a noun is barely four hundred years old and dawn as a name is younger still, arriving as part of a wave of word-names in the twentieth century. Fixing a prefix to it is a further step again, and it is one of the few cases where the American prefix system was applied to a word rather than to somebody else's name.
Meaning
daybreak
The second element is the English word for the first light of morning, and its meaning is not in doubt. The prefix has no lexical content: it is a piece of American name-building that carries rhythm rather than sense. So the name means daybreak with something in front of it, and the honest description is that the something means nothing at all, which is normal and not a defect.
How the name formed
- An old English verb, to dawn
- The noun dawn cut back from dawning
- Dawn taken up as a woman's name
- Ladawn, adding an American prefix to a word

luh-DAWN
Two syllables with the stress at the back and the first reduced almost to nothing, which is what allows a prefix to attach to anything without disturbing it. It is written LaDawn with an internal capital about as often as it is written flat.

Fashion outlook
Ladawn sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.
