The story of Kiandra
The gold ran out within a few years and the town emptied, but the snow did not. The miners had raced each other down the slopes on hand-made boards for entertainment during winters when nothing else could be done, and the club they formed kept going after the mining stopped. The buildings are gone; the sport is not. It is one of the odder legacies of a gold rush: no town, no mine, no money, and a ski club that has outlived all three by a hundred and fifty years.
Meaningnot established
Not established
The Australian place name is Aboriginal and its meaning is not securely recorded. As an American name this is far likelier to be an assembly — a front element and a Greek-derived cluster that turns up in Sandra, Kendra and Deandra — and the two are unconnected. The record shows it from the middle 1970s in very small numbers.

Fashion outlook
Kiandra sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.

The trade-off
- Kia and Andra are both available and both work on their own.
- It is read correctly at sight by anybody.
- The place behind the letters has an unusually good story attached.
- The Australian connection is a coincidence rather than an origin.
- There is no meaning to give her and no documented source.
- It is closely dated to the last decades of the century.
