The story of Khristine

In Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel The Phantom of the Opera, Christine Daaé is a young Swedish soprano at the Paris Opéra who is taught to sing by an unseen voice, the Phantom who lives beneath the building; the story became a silent film and, much later, one of the longest-running musicals in history. In 1983 Stephen King published Christine, about a jealous, possessed 1958 Plymouth Fury that its owner restores and names. Khristine, with its Kh, was a spelling used by American families in the middle of the century.
