Our story of Keyler
Our story of Keyler is a story of an ending with a trade behind it that nobody carried forward. Tyler is a roof-tiler, a real medieval job; Skyler is a Dutch scholar; Kyler is neither. By the time Keyler appears in the American registers in the 2010s, the -ler ending had become a shape rather than an occupation, and the Key- front had been circulating in Latin American naming for a decade. Two components, one decade, and no inherited word.
Meaningnot established
Not established
No established etymology. The Key- front circulates from Keyon and Keyla; the -ler ending from Tyler, Kyler and Skyler. Occasional attributions to German Keiler, 'wild boar', are not documented for the American name. It is a modern coinage.

About 1 boy in 16,583 born in 2025 was given one of these spellings — against 1 in 18,566 for Keyler itself.
Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. It errs towards splitting: a family here is never larger than the truth. SSA national data, 2025. Method
