Our story of Kenzley
Our story of Kenzley is a story of a Scottish surname taken apart. Mackenzie descends from the Gaelic Mac Coinnich, son of the handsome one, and became an American girls' name in the 1990s; families then clipped it to Kenzie and rebuilt from there — Kenzley, Kenslee, Kinsley. The -ley ending is genuine Old English for a clearing. Kenzley appears in the registers in the 2010s and its compound is that new.

Not established
The -ley ending is the Old English leah, 'wood' or 'clearing', which is settled. The Kenz- front is a modern American sound, probably from Mackenzie, itself from the Gaelic Coinneach, 'handsome'. The compound is not documented as inherited.
