Where it comes from

The story of Kenedy

Mifflin Kenedy, a Quaker from Pennsylvania, ran steamboats on the Rio Grande with his partner Richard King and then built one of the great cattle ranches of South Texas; the town and county of Kenedy are named after him and keep his single n. As a girl's name Kennedy rose at the end of the twentieth century, and Kenedy is one of its spellings; nothing records whether families chose it knowing the Texas name.
