The story of Kadarius
Darius I ruled the Achaemenid empire from 522 to 486 BC, reorganised its administration, built Persepolis and Susa, dug a canal from the Nile to the Red Sea, and lost at Marathon. His inscription at Behistun, carved in three languages, is what allowed cuneiform to be deciphered in the nineteenth century. The name reached English through the Greek historians and the Book of Daniel. American use of Darius grew from the 1970s, particularly in African-American naming, and the Ka- prefix combined with it in the way it combined with dozens of other elements in the same decades.

'holding firm the good', in the Darius element
Old Persian Darayavaus is generally analyzed as a compound: daraya, 'to hold, to possess', and vahu, 'good' — giving something like 'he who holds firm the good' or 'possessing goodness'. Darius himself supplies the material for this reading in his own inscriptions. That is a settled etymology for the Persian name. The Ka- prefix carries no lexical content, so the meaning belongs entirely to the second half.

The Eron test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Kadarius's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Eron climbed just as high around 1972, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Eron's path sketches the road Kadarius is walking now.

The trade-off
- Darius is a complete name with a genuinely ancient history available inside it.
- The pronunciation is obvious from the spelling with no competing reading.
- The -ius ending gives it a classical sound uncommon among modern coinages.
- The prefix has no meaning, so the answer to the meaning question is only half an answer.
- Four syllables is long for everyday use, so a short form is effectively required.
- Its curve is around 1995, which places a bearer's generation.
