The story of Jvon
Yew is dense, slow-growing and extraordinarily elastic, which made it the only European wood suitable for the longbow, and English demand stripped the yew forests of much of the continent by the sixteenth century. The tree is also poisonous in every part but the flesh of the berry, extremely long-lived, and planted in churchyards for reasons that are argued over: to keep cattle out, to supply bow staves, or because the sites were sacred before the churches were built. The Germanic word for it gave the Breton and French names Yves, Yvon and Ivo, one of which became the surname Ives. The American Jvon may or may not descend from any of that, and its spelling, with a consonant standing alone as a syllable, is a modern device.

Germanic iv, the yew tree
Jvon is an American formation, most plausibly from the Ja- or Je- prefix with the -von element, and possibly a respelling of French Yvon, from Yves, from a Germanic word for yew. The spelling has no vowel in its first syllable. The peak is 1996.

The Nathaneil test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Jvon's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Nathaneil climbed just as high around 1945, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Nathaneil's path sketches the road Jvon is walking now.
Jvon sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
