The story of Hyrum
Hiram of Tyre appears in Kings and Chronicles as Solomon's ally and supplier, and the name entered English through the Bible. American Protestant families used it steadily in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The Hyrum spelling belongs particularly to Latter-day Saint families, for whom a nineteenth-century figure of that name is significant, and it is concentrated in Utah and the intermountain West.
