The story of Horton
Dozens of English villages are called Horton, from Old English words for a muddy farmstead, and the surname came from them. In 1940 Dr. Seuss published Horton Hatches the Egg, in which an elephant keeps his promise to sit on a lazy bird's egg through storms and ridicule — 'I meant what I said and I said what I meant' — and in 1954 Horton Hears a Who!, in which he protects a whole town on a speck of dust. Horton was given as a first name to American boys in the late nineteenth century.

Fashion outlook
Horton sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.
