Heimirich was a Frankish name that German made Heinrich and France made Henri; a Burgundian count named Henrique became the father of Portugal's first king. Prince Henry the Navigator, Infante Dom Henrique, organized the fifteenth-century voyages down the African coast that opened the Atlantic to Europe. The name has been among the standard Portuguese ones since and reaches American records with Brazilian and Portuguese families.
