The story of Giorgia
Georgios was an ordinary Greek name that became a very widespread Christian one, carried by a soldier-saint whose cult spread from the eastern Mediterranean across Europe. Italy made Giorgio and Giorgia; England made George and Georgia; Russia made Yuri and Georgiy from the same source. The Italian spelling arrived in American records with Italian families and is now also chosen by families with no Italian connection who prefer it to the English Georgia.
Meaning

Giorgia sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
