The story of Fidencio
Jose Fidencio Constantino Sintora, born in Guanajuato in 1898, settled at Espinazo in Nuevo Leon and became known as a healer in the 1920s. At his height the railway ran special trains to the village, tens of thousands camped there waiting for treatment, and in 1928 President Plutarco Elias Calles, in the middle of a violent conflict with the Catholic Church, visited him. He died in 1938 and the movement did not: Fidencismo continues, with materias who channel him, an annual pilgrimage to Espinazo and a following in the hundreds of thousands across northern Mexico and the American Southwest. The name he carried is an ordinary Latin one meaning trusting, and its American curve tracks his fame almost exactly.

The Hymen test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Fidencio's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Hymen climbed just as high around 1913, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Hymen's path sketches the road Fidencio is walking now.
