The story of Fatimah
Fatimah was the Prophet's youngest daughter and Ali's wife; the line of descent central to Shia Islam runs through her, and the Fatimid caliphate took its name from her claim. She is called az-Zahra, the radiant. The name is among the most-used in the Muslim world and is in current American use.
Meaning
one who weans, abstains
From the Arabic fatama, 'to wean' or 'to abstain from'. Tradition reads the name as one whose descendants are weaned from the fire. The h ending marks the Arabic ta marbuta. The root is ordinary Arabic and the reading undisputed.

Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. It errs towards splitting: a family here is never larger than the truth. SSA national data, 2025. Method
