Our story of Ezren
Our story of Ezren is a story of a biblical front and a modern back. Ezra is the scribe who reads the law aloud to the returned exiles in Nehemiah 8 — one of the founding scenes of rabbinic Judaism — and the name rose sharply in American use from the 2000s. The -en ending was busy at the same time, closing Aiden, Camden and Holden. Ezren appears in the registers in the 2010s from that junction, and its compound is new even where its front is ancient.

help
The likeliest route runs through Ezra, from the Hebrew ezra, 'help', a shortening of Azariah, 'the Lord has helped'. The -en ending is a modern American addition with no meaning of its own. Whether Ezren descends from Ezra or is a free coinage is not documented.

Line the two peaks up, and Marice's path sketches the road Ezren is walking now.
