The story of Etheleen
Ethel Merman never had a singing lesson; George Gershwin told her not to take any, and her voice carried to the back of any theater without a microphone, through Anything Goes, Annie Get Your Gun and Gypsy. Ethel Waters sang 'Stormy Weather', starred on Broadway and in film, and called her autobiography His Eye Is on the Sparrow, after the hymn she made her own. Etheleen is one of the longer forms families made from Ethel.
