Our story of Ellisyn
Ours, offered as ours. Elijah's name is his entire case: on Mount Carmel he asks the people how long they will go on limping between two opinions, and his own name already answers the question. Medieval England wore the name down to Ellis and made it a surname. Ellisyn adds a modern ending to it. The sentence at the bottom is one of the sharpest in the Hebrew Bible and it survives four languages of erosion.

my God is the Lord
Ellis descends from Elias, the Greek form of Hebrew Eliyahu, joining el, God, to a form of the divine name; the whole name is the argument the prophet makes. The -syn ending is a modern American suffix with no meaning of its own.

The Azia test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Ellisyn's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Azia climbed just as high around 1998, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Azia's path sketches the road Ellisyn is walking now.
Ellisyn sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.

The trade-off
- Ellie and Ellis are both complete short forms in current use.
- A genuinely old Hebrew sentence stands at the bottom of it.
- Read correctly on sight by most English speakers.
- The Syn clip sounds like sin, which is worth heading off early.
- Ellisyn, Ellison and Ellisen are all in use and none is dominant.
- The -syn ending carries no meaning and adds two letters.
