Italian dropped the letter entirely, so Italian writes Ettore and uomo and onore. Spanish kept the letter and does not say it, which is why hombre and hora and hoy begin with a silent h, and why Spanish speakers meeting English have to learn to make a sound their own language abandoned two thousand years ago. Medieval French and English spellings of Hector often have no h either. This spelling is on the older side of that argument, not the wrong side of it.
