Our story of Eather
For centuries scientists believed that light traveled through an invisible medium called the aether, as sound travels through air. In an Ohio laboratory, Albert Michelson and Edward Morley built an instrument delicate enough to detect the Earth moving through it, and found nothing at all; their famous null result helped clear the way for relativity. Eather has no tie to them, but it shares the name of that vanished substance, which is a lovely, strange thing to carry.
