Our story of Dorion
Marie Dorion, an Iowa woman married to the interpreter Pierre Dorion, traveled west with John Jacob Astor's overland party to the Pacific, carrying two small boys and giving birth on the way. Later, after Pierre was killed, she escaped with the children on horseback, spent the winter in a shelter in the Blue Mountains living on horse meat, and brought them out alive in spring. Dorion, the name, came from Dorian or from that surname. It is smooth and strong.
