The story of Delano
Philippe de Lannoy was a Walloon Huguenot who arrived at Plymouth Colony in 1621 on the Fortune, the ship that followed the Mayflower, and his descendants anglicized the name to Delano. One of them married into the Roosevelt family, which is how Franklin Delano Roosevelt got his middle name — and the registers show the given name rising sharply in 1933 and again in 1945.

The Meyer test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Delano's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Meyer climbed just as high around 1912, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Meyer's path sketches the road Delano is walking now.
Delano sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
