The story of Chrystian
The Danish royal house has alternated between two names since the fifteenth century with a regularity that makes the king list look like a pattern: Christian, then Frederik, then Christian, then Frederik, for generation after generation. Ten Christians have reigned. One of them ruled for sixty years and presided over the loss of Norway; another wore a uniform and rode through Copenhagen on horseback every morning during the German occupation, which made him, without a shot being fired, the most useful symbol the country had. The name is so bound up with the monarchy that Danish children learn the sequence the way English children learn the order of the Tudors.

Chrystian sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.
