The story of Christos
Anointing with oil marked a king or a priest in the Hebrew tradition, and the Greek translators needed a word for it. Christos was the ordinary Greek adjective, and it carried the term into the New Testament and then into every European language. In Greece the name has been given to men for centuries, often to a boy born at Christmas, and it is entirely unremarkable there. It reaches American records with Greek families.

The Nickie test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Christos's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Nickie climbed just as high around 1943, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Nickie's path sketches the road Christos is walking now.
Christos sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
