Cesario
Masculine · “of the Caesars”
Cesario is the Italian and Spanish form of a Roman family name, and it is also the name a shipwrecked girl gives herself in Twelfth Night when she puts on men's clothes and goes to work for a duke. Shakespeare needed a name that sounded plausibly like a young man of good family, and he reached for the grandest one available.

The story of Cesario
Viola is washed ashore in a country she does not know, believes her twin brother drowned, and decides that the safest way to survive is to dress as a boy and take service with the local duke. The name she chooses is Cesario. Everything that follows in the play turns on it: the duke sends her to court a countess on his behalf, the countess falls in love with the messenger, and Viola falls in love with the duke while being unable to say so. It is the most economical disguise in Shakespeare — one name and a change of clothes — and the name was doing real work, sounding aristocratic enough that nobody in the play thinks to ask.

of the Caesars
Rome offered several explanations of the family name and could not agree on any of them, which is a good sign that the name is older than the explanations. One of the stories — that the first of the line was cut from his mother's womb — is the origin of the surgical term, and it is almost certainly backwards. The most famous Caesar was not born that way: his mother was alive and giving him advice decades later, and no woman survived that operation in the ancient world. The word more likely comes from the Latin verb for cutting, applied to the procedure directly.

Fashion outlook
Cesario sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.
