The story of Camile
Roman ritual required assistants, and the office was filled by freeborn children of citizens whose parents were both living, on the principle that they were unblemished by loss. The word camillus names that role, and it became a family name, borne by the general Marcus Furius Camillus, who was credited with saving Rome from the Gauls in 390 BC. Virgil gave the feminine to a warrior maiden in the Aeneid, which put it into literature, and French produced Camille for both sexes: it is a man's name and a woman's name in France, which surprises English speakers who know it only from the play and opera about the lady of the camellias.

Spellings are grouped by a fixed rule that folds interchangeable English spellings of one sound (ck/k, ph/f, x/ks, a non-initial y for i) and keeps vowels apart, so Sean and Shawn stay separate names. Line the two peaks up, and Ludivina's path sketches the road Camile is walking now.
Camile sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
