Beula
Feminine · “Married”
Beula drops the h that the standard spelling carries, and the h was never a sound. It marks a Hebrew letter that transliterators wanted to show and English cannot say, so removing it changes nothing except the number of letters and how obviously biblical the name looks.

The story of Beula
William Blake took the word and built a country out of it. In his mythology Beulah is a place of dreams and married states, softer and more forgiving than the world of reason above it, where contraries are allowed to coexist and where the imagination goes to rest; it sits between the fallen world and eternity, and it is where poets are said to receive their inspiration. He uses it constantly in the late prophetic books, and it is one of the few names in his private cosmology taken directly from scripture rather than invented. Anybody who has read the word only on a birth certificate or in a hymn is missing a whole third life it has had.
Meaning
Married
The Hebrew is a passive participle meaning married or owned, applied in Isaiah to a country rather than to a person: the land is to be called married because it will no longer be deserted. So the word is a promise about a place, and it became a name for people much later, in English and mostly in America.

Two syllables with the stress at the front and a y-glide after the b. The missing h at the end is silent in the standard spelling too, so the two are said identically.

Fashion outlook
Beula sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.

The trade-off
- Short, clear and easy to say once the glide at the front is settled.
- The word behind it has three separate lives, in scripture, in hymns and in poetry.
- It is spelled more economically than the standard form without losing anything.
- Beulah is the standard spelling and this one will be corrected by anyone who knows the source.
- The name is very strongly dated to the turn of the last century in American ears.
- The meaning is married, which is an odd thing for a child to carry and was never meant for one.
