The story of Aurea
Aurea was a Roman name and became a Christian one through several martyrs, of whom Aurea of Córdoba is the most documented: a ninth-century nun of Muslim parentage in Al-Andalus, killed in 856 in the sequence of executions known as the martyrs of Córdoba. The name stayed in Spanish and Portuguese use, and Áurea is ordinary in Brazil. Its American record follows Hispanic and Filipino families, with a peak in the 1950s, and it has been rare since; the golden ratio's Latin name, sectio aurea, keeps the word familiar in a quite separate context.
Meaning
Golden
From Latin aureus, aurea, golden, from aurum, gold. The reading is settled and undisputed. The same root gives Aurelia, Aurelius and the English aureole. Saint Aurea of Ostia and Saint Aurea of Córdoba both carried the name in the early Christian centuries.

The Arlen test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Aurea's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Arlen climbed just as high around 1937, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Arlen's path sketches the road Aurea is walking now.
Aurea sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
