Agapito
Masculine · “beloved”
Agapito comes from the Greek word the early church chose for love, and the choice was deliberate. Greek had at least four words available, covering desire, friendship, family affection and something else again, and Christian writers picked the one that was least used and least specific, precisely because it carried no baggage they had to argue with.

The story of Agapito
The vocabulary matters. Greek had a word for erotic desire, a word for the affection between friends, a word for the bond within a family, and this one, which appears in classical texts but is not common and does not carry a sharp definition. That vagueness was the point: writers building a religious vocabulary could fill it with what they needed rather than fighting an existing sense. The early church also used the word for a shared communal meal, held alongside or before the eucharist, at which the whole congregation ate together regardless of rank. Those meals were eventually separated from the service and then discontinued, largely because they were difficult to run without the social distinctions reappearing, which is a very ordinary reason for a good idea to end.
Meaning
beloved
From a Greek verb and noun about love of a particular kind, and the reading is settled. The Latin form of the name is a saint's name and reached Spanish and Italian directly. What is worth adding is which love: not desire, not friendship and not family feeling, but a word that classical Greek used rarely and that the church made central.

Fashion outlook
Agapito sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.
