Aeden
Masculine · “little fire”
Aeden is overwhelmingly a boys’ name — 1,159 boys against 7 girls since 1880.
Aeden uses a digraph that is genuinely old and almost never seen in modern English. The ae ligature belonged to Old English and Latin — Aelfred, Caesar, Aethelred — and it survived into English only in a few learned words before being simplified away. Applied to Aiden it looks antique and does nothing audible. Its peak is 2008.

The story of Aeden
The ae digraph in English represents a Latin diphthong and an Old English vowel, and it survives now in a handful of words — aegis, aeon, aesthetic — most of which American spelling has simplified to e. That rarity is what makes it useful as a naming device: a name containing ae looks scholarly and old, whatever it actually is. American naming has applied it to Aeden, Kaeden, Braeden and Raelynn, none of which has any Latin or Old English in it. Meanwhile the genuinely Irish Aodhan uses a completely different set of vowel conventions.
Meaning
little fire
Irish Aodhan is a diminutive of Aodh, a Celtic god of fire and sun whose name is also the ordinary Irish word for fire. So the name means 'little fire'. That is settled for the whole family. The ae spelling is a decorative borrowing from Latin and Old English orthography and has no connection to Irish, which does not use the digraph.
