The story of Tyrice
Rhys ap Gruffydd, who died in 1197, was the most powerful Welsh ruler of his century and held the south-west against the Normans for decades; the name was borne by princes before and after him. English speakers could not manage the initial rh, a voiceless r that English does not have, so they wrote Rice, and the surname spread through the Welsh Marches and into England and America. It is one of a set of Welsh names hiding in plain sight in English: Price is ap Rhys, Powell is ap Hywel, Bowen is ab Owain, Floyd is Llwyd, and Vaughan is Fychan. Tyrice is not descended from any of them, but it lands on the same syllable, which is worth knowing.

Welsh Rhys, ardor or enthusiasm
Tyrice joins the Ty- opening to an element that matches Rice, the English spelling of Welsh Rhys, generally read as ardor or fiery. Whether any family intended that is not recoverable; the compound is a modern American formation. The peak is 1977.

Tyrice's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Henning climbed just as high around 1915, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Henning's path sketches the road Tyrice is walking now.
