Teisha
Feminine
The sound in the middle of Teisha did not exist in Latin. Every European language that inherited the Roman alphabet had to invent a way of writing it, and they all invented something different: ch in France, sch in Germany, sz in Poland, sci in Italy, x in old Spanish and Portuguese. English chose sh, and it is one of the tidier answers.

Our story of Teisha
The sound was a latecomer. Classical Latin had no sh, and the languages that grew out of Latin developed it independently, mostly out of earlier k and s sounds softening in front of certain vowels, which is why French has it in chien and Italian in scienza and neither writes it the same way. English got it from several directions at once, including Norman French, and settled on the two-letter sh only gradually; Old English wrote sc and expected the reader to know. That history is why the sound has so many spellings in modern English, in nation and mission and machine and sugar as well as in ship, and it is why an American name using the plain sh is doing the simplest possible thing with the most awkward sound in the western alphabet.
Meaningnot established
Not established
No source and no meaning. The name belongs to the American tradition of building names from syllables that were in circulation, and the ei at the front was chosen for how it looks rather than for what it says, since English has three different values for those two letters and no rule to pick between them.
Pronouncing Teisha
TEE-shuh
Two syllables with the stress at the front. The ei writes a long e here, which is one of its three English values; the other two are the vowels of eight and of height, and nothing in the spelling says which is meant.

Fashion outlook
Teisha sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.

The trade-off
- Short, soft and easy to say, with nothing in it that gives an English speaker trouble.
- The sh is the plainest possible spelling of the least plain sound in English.
- Two clean short forms that sound nothing alike.
- The ei has three possible readings and the spelling does not choose, so the name has to be introduced.
- Tiesha, Teesha and Tyisha all exist for the same sound, so spelling it out is permanent.
- There is no meaning to give a child who asks.
Nobody names a baby alone.
