The story of Tammie
Tamar appears more than once in Genesis and Samuel, and traveled into Russian and Georgian as Tamara, where a twelfth-century queen made it royal. English met Tamara late. Tammy as an independent name is mid-century American, arriving from a 1948 novel and the films made from it, and the respellings followed the ending fashions of the day — Tammy with -y, Tammie with -ie, Tami with -i. Tammie peaked in the early 1960s.

The Elva test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Tammie's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Elva climbed just as high around 1901, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Elva's path sketches the road Tammie is walking now.
Tammie sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
