The story of Seward
On the night Lincoln was shot, a second conspirator forced his way into William Seward's house and stabbed him in his bed; Seward, already in a metal splint from a carriage accident, survived. Two years later he bought Alaska from Russia, and newspapers called it Seward's Folly and Seward's Icebox until the gold and the oil proved him right. American families gave his surname to sons in the years that followed, and Seward became a given name in its own right.

Fashion outlook
Seward sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.
