Where it comes from

The story of Saturnino

In the Roman midwinter festival of the Saturnalia, the normal order was reversed: gifts were exchanged, gambling was allowed, and slaves might sit at table while their masters served them. Saturninus, the first bishop of Toulouse, is said in the third century to have refused to sacrifice to the Roman gods and been tied to a bull that dragged him to his death; the great Romanesque basilica of Saint-Sernin now stands over his tomb. Saturnino came to America with Spanish-speaking families in the early twentieth century.
