Our story of Rinda
The ending had a busy half-century. Lucinda, Belinda, Melinda, Dorinda, Clorinda and Florinda were all in use in nineteenth-century America, several of them invented by poets and novelists in the century before, and the tail they shared came loose exactly the way endings do. Once loose it produced short names of its own — Rinda, Linda, Vinda — which look like fragments and were given as whole names. The generation that did this is the same one usually described as conservative in its naming, which it was not: it was inventing constantly, out of the material it had, and the results look old-fashioned now only because the material has changed.

Not established
No source can be established. It may be a clipped Lucinda or Dorinda, it may be a build from the ending that was available, and it may be an American spelling of a Scandinavian name. The record holds it bare.

Fashion outlook
Rinda sits outside the current charts, and that is its own kind of answer: naming cycles can only date the names they carried up. A name this rare has no decade stamped on it — it cannot go out of fashion, because it was never in.
