Our story of Princella
In colonial New England, Prince was a given name for men, many of them enslaved or free Black men, and the most famous was Prince Hall, a Boston leather-dresser who in 1775 founded the first lodge of Black Freemasons in America and petitioned for the abolition of slavery. Princella looks like a daughter's form of that name, with the soft -ella of Stella and Della. It may equally be Priscilla as a family heard it. Either way it is a name with dignity in its sound.
