The story of Loren
Laurence became a major European name through a third-century Roman deacon martyred under Valerian, and every language made its own form: Lorenzo, Lorenz, Laurent, Lars. English kept Laurence and Lawrence, and American families in the twentieth century used a set of shorter forms — Loren, Lorin, Lauren — that sat between them. Loren peaked as a masculine name in the mid-1940s, just before Lauren moved decisively to girls.
Meaning
of Laurentum; laurel
From the Latin Laurentius, 'man of Laurentum'. Laurentum was a town in Latium whose name is generally taken from laurus, 'laurel' — so the name reaches the tree by way of a place. The laurel wreath was the Roman symbol of victory, which is why the word survives in 'laureate'.

The Dominick test
Every popular name lives one long story — a climb, a peak, a slow settling back. Loren's later chapters haven't been written yet, so we borrowed them: Dominick climbed just as high around 1914, and its whole arc is on record. Line the two peaks up, and Dominick's path sketches the road Loren is walking now.
Loren sits in the calm middle of the cycle — neither chasing a wave nor sliding off one. Middle-of-the-cycle names age slowly and predictably.
